Presenting the 8th Annual
GAIAN MIND SUMMER FESTIVAL
Thursday, June 11th to Sunday, June 14th, 2009
Ramblewood, Darlington, Maryland, USA
We are happy to announce our new location - Ramblewood! Ramblewood is ideally located minutes from historic Havre de Grace, Maryland, and is convenient to Baltimore, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, and NYC. Unlike most places that do not understand or tolerate "alternative" groups, Ramblewood especially tries to cater to these groups which have a hard time finding a safe place to hold their events. Ramblewood understands and offers these groups a chance to meet in a beautiful natural environment, without fear of judgement or persecution.
Remember, GMSF2009 will be on the weekend before the summer solstice this year - Thursday, June 11th to Sunday, June 14th, 2009. We hope to reschedule the event on the summer solstice in the upcoming year...
VIBRASPHERE sweden
(Tribal Vision Records / Cloud 99 Music - Sweden) Live! Trance & Chillout Sets!
A decade in any music industry is no mean feat in any style of music, but in electronic music, it's a proverbial lifetime. Few acts can claim this feat at all, let alone claim ten years of success, but in the European summer this year, that is what Sweden's Vibrasphere have accomplished. Vibrasphere can trance their beginnings to the infancy of the trance movement itself in the mid nineties. Rickard Berglof was a member of early Goa supergroup Subcouds, while Robert Elster was working on his own projects at home on his trusty Amiga computer. After being introduced through Rickard's cousin, the pair formed a strong friendship and decided to start working on a new project in Cloud 99 Studios. In the summer of 1998, the Vibrasphere project was born and the pair have continued to add to the studio since. The next ten years they firmly earned their claim to be one of the progressive trance sound's founding fathers, with this, their fifth release (and second on Tribal Vision) a testament to the pairs amazing diversity and characteristic sound. But don't the pigeonhole the Vibrasphere sound as merely "trance" or "progressive" either, they have produced in a myriad of different styles with a strong focus on ambient and downbeat, along with their dance music in a variety of different genres as well. They have even had their hands in various soundtracks film and media projects, and their live career has taken them around the globe, playing hundreds of shows at some of the world's biggest clubs and festivals and earned them the respect of danceâ?™s superstar DJs like Hernan Cattaneo, Armin Van Buuren, Paul Oakenfold, Christopher Lawrence and many, many more. However, like any long career, they have had their own highs and lows. The hectic touring schedule that took its toll on Robert in the time after the release of early albums "Echoes" on Spiral Trax and "Lime Structures" on Digital Structures. He temporarily left the group and left Rickard to continue the project and travel alone. However it was not long till Robert rejoined Rickard and they havenâ?™t looked back since, producing 2 more albums - "Archipelago" on Digital Structures and "Exploring the Tributaries" on Tribal Vision. With this, their fifth and new release "Lungs of Life" on Tribal Vision, Rickard and Robert promise a maturation of their diverse sound and another step forward for this dynamic production duo. After a decade of the music, one can only guess where the pair will go next. However, one thing is for sure and that is that Vibrasphere have firmly stamped their name in the history books as one of the pioneering acts of the electronic music movement and their music will continue to influence people for many years to come.Â
HALTYA finland
(Exogenic Records / Planetaria Recordings - Finland) First USA appearance!
Pelinpala and Outolintu first released on the"Fusion vs Confusion" compilation in 1999. The "Project/Haltya" 12, released in 2000, received very good feedback and club plays from, among others, Annie Nightingale at BBC Radio One. After that followed two albums, "Forest Flavor" and "Electric Help Elves."
Haltya was a joint venture of PeLinPaLa (Tommi Sirkia) and Outolintu (Jurgen Sachau). The duo started making music together in 1996 although Tommi and Jyrgen had been making music separately before this for many years by their own means. Haltya was originally meant to be a record label. Traces of that idea stayed in the band, as it isn't a collaboration in the traditional meaning of the word. Most of the Haltya tunes are composed and produced by either one of the members or together not including their own solo adventures as PeLinPaLa and Outolintu. They both have very different backgrounds in music as Tommi has a long history of studies in classical instruments, rock and jazz music & theory and music technology, whereas Outolintu is a self-taught musician who felt the groove and evolved by experimenting with music by his own.
These two producers connected in a musical way as they both had a habit of experimenting with electronic music equipment. They were looking for the freakiest sounds that could come out of those machines of the new electronic music industry. When they got the synths to sing the weirdest tones, they both knew that only a couple of those sounds would just not be enough for one tune! The result is seriously booty shaking funky forest music with sparkles on top, the trademark of Haltya. Their musical style takes influences from jazz, funk, trance, house, drum n bass and all sorts of other musical directions. Some call it acid disco, acid funk or psy-funk.
Haltya released their first record on Exogenic Records in 1999 in the form of "Project/Haltya" EP. Their debut album "Forest Flavor," which came out in 2000 was highly acclaimed by the psychedelic music lovers around the world. In late 2003 they released the single "Hero," which made way for the following album "Electric Help Elves," released 2004. In 2005 Outolintu left the project in the caring hands of Pelinpala so he could concentrate on his solo projects.
Today Haltya is considered to be one of the leading originals in psychedelic music and the Suomi sound. The sound of Haltya has been heard in various parties in countries around the world during their live gigs and DJ sets.
HEADROOM uk
(Nano Records - South Africa) First USA appearance!
With a driven approach towards sculpting a new range of serious "art-elligent" music, Headroom is catapulting his way to the realm of the non-forgettables. He has only been producing full time for just over a year, and is set to release his debut album with Nano in April 2008. Beating stereotype and predictability, there is a keen desire to attain a new level of conscious fullon trance highlighting Headroom as a worthy "up and coming" must-see on this season's dance floor. The release of his first single "The future begins today, "Network," Nano Records 2005, amongst others has cemented him a place in the future of psychedelic music. A dedicated work ethic and a commitment to producing a refined and collectable album, means that fans and music lovers alike have something to truly look forward to. Headroom has been DJing for eight years, but it has been his accelerated understanding of production that translates his personal signature sound on today's scene. Already Origins (SA), Earthdance (SA), Glade (UK), Tribe "6 Anos" (BR), Kaballah "4 Anos" (BR), Mother "S.O.S." (JP), Antaris (GER), and Universo Paralello (BR) have caught on to Headroom's talents. With previous releases on Nano and various memorable live performances, "ARTelligent" (Nano Records) is one album that will be hard to miss.
FLIP-FLOP uk
(Alchemy Records - UK) First USA appearance!
"Flip Flop" are Chris Hanson (aka Touch Tone/Sketchy Pimps/DJ Crispy) and John Beesemyer-Monkman (aka Hemi-Sync/Pink Noize), two producers from the UK. Both have been writing trance for over seven years, using this time to hone their production techniques and allow their sound to develop into the kicking Full On/Progressive hybrid that it has become. With influences from many different genres of music and a tendency to think outside the box, their music stands out at home as well as on massive sound-systems. Huge slabs of groove and tripped out sonic sound-scapes are interlaced with a melodic structure subtly easing its way out of the arrangement. Both Chris and John DJ and play live regularly around the UK in addition to international gigs played in Brazil, German, Thailand, France, Sweden, Denmark, and India.
HIGHPERSONIC WHOMEN finland
(Exogenic Records / Planetaria Recordings - Finland) First USA appearance!
Highpersonic Whomen was born around 2001 and originally included Tommi Sirkia (Haltya, Headphonics) and Jurgen Sachau (Haltya). Their thought with this project was to experiment with more mainstream and clubbish sound than their other bands but without forgetting the psychedelic undercurrent. Their aim was to produce popular and easy to listen progressive trance.
Outolintu started later to fly with his solo project, but Tommi wanted to continue with the project on those lines in which Highpersonic Whomen was build up. Make Louhio (Kiwa, Headphonics) joined the forces and the experiments in digital sound continued. Bringing his own style and vibe to Highpersonic Whomen the sound of the duo evolved more in to housey soundscapes.
The duo has released tracks on such labels as Novatekk, Twisted Records, U.S.T.A, Digital Structures and Com.Pact. Records. Their debut album Alternative Energysource was released on 2002 and was acclaimed by many trance critics to be the best album of the year. Since then the name of Highpersonic Whomen has been seen in flyers around the world in the countries like Israel, Russia and Brazil.
REV netherlands
(Doof Records - Netherlands) First USA appearance!

Troy started making trance music in 1996 together with Bonky and in 1997 together with Ramamurti. With him they founded the legendary band: Fungus Of Light. HEMI-SYNC uk
(Nano Records - UK) First USA appearance!
Hemi-Sync is the psytrance project of John B Monkman. He was born in sunny California and at the ripe old age of 4, moved to the UK where you can find him today. John's been producing electronic music for well over eight years and has a strong musical background. He's had various releases on top labels such as Alchemy and Nano Records (also organizers of the Glade Festival) and various releases under his joint project, Flip-Flop. Hemi-Sync's music is a blend of deep kicks and bass, fused with solid electronic grooves that twist, turn, slide and crawl their way through dance floors. With big systems, big crowds and big spaces in mind, his pieces definitely make you wanna wiggle!
